Background on the Writers Brooke and Geoff

The two only contributors to this blog are Brooke and Geoff. We are a couple that enjoys watching movies together, as well as critiquing them with each other afterward. The intent of this blog is to review and critique each movie that was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture in the last decade or so (from 2000 to 2011). Thanks to the power of Netflix, we will see if we think these films were worthy of such a nomination, and whether or not the Oscars got it right by picking the winner that they did for each particular year. We came up with this idea after we got into one too many heated debates after watching a film: What was good, what was bad, what could have been better, etc. We quickly learned that we have vastly different views on what we liked and what we considered good film making. Thus,we hatched an idea to put all our thoughts down on a blog instead of actually discussing it with each other. Quickly, we came up with a name for our blog that simply explained our two very different takes on each movie: Take Two.

Brooke enjoys a wide range of movies, spanning from chick flicks (obviously), dramas, comedies, and (surprisingly) darker films. Such movies include: Atonement, Runaway Bride, Black Swan, American Psycho, Pride and Prejudice, and the new Star Trek.
Geoff enjoys comedies, action films, as well as dramatic films. Favorite films include but not limited to: The Dark Knight, Ocean's 11, the new Star Trek, the old Star Wars, the Lord of the Rings, and Inception.

Despite our main mission being the Oscar nominated films for best picture, we will not limit ourselves to just the nominated; as we will dabble into our own personal favorites from time to time, as well as other films we may think garnered a nomination that didn't come to pass.

Writing movie reviews for this blog will not be our day job, and we don't plan on quitting said day jobs anytime soon. Please feel free to comment on any review you desire. We just ask you to keep it benign, or we will find you.
